About
Casa Barú is located in the very heart of Scicli, one of the most coveted cities of the Sicilian Baroque and one of the few cities in the world to have been included in the UNESCO patrimony in its entirety. The house is part of the ancient Palazzo Beneventano structure, built in the 1600. It served the city as a convent until the 1800, when it was converted to a private house and passed onto generations until 20 years ago, when it was acquired by our family.
Casa , Barú is a love story, it was a love gift to celebrate a wedding anniversary, and it slowly became a family project, which took us through 12 years of complex restoration works, in respect of the ancient history of the building.
This is also a love letter to our hometown, described by the notorious writer and poet ,Elio Vittorini , as “the most beautiful town in the world” or, as we would say, “la città più bella di tutte”.
We named it after our beloved dog, Barú, who bravely saved our family from a devastating fire and has been “the boy of the house” since 2012.
